Roland flood pumping station is located on the Red River with two 150 HP pumps originally built in the 1950's.
As General Contractor on this project Robin Electric was responsible for the demolition of the existing single phase and 5KV services to the station, including the existing distribution and control equipment.
A new 5KV service, switch-gear, 500KVA distribution transformer, motor control center, and instrumentation were supplied and installed. Our scope also included the supply and installation of a panelboard, lighting and receptacles, as well as the installation of HVAC equipment and architectural finishes.
The main challenges of this project included;
-Keeping the existing RTU panel online during the demo and construction
-Successfully relocating the RTU panel in one day
-Insuring critical dates were met to guarantee the pumps being in operation prior to being needed for the spring melt
The solutions to the above problems;
-Running generators to maintain power to integral systems and selective demolition work
-Adding crews and equipment to make sure the project remained on schedule
-Careful project management to ensure all distribution and control equipment was delivered and installed in a timely fashion
